Quays Festival Presents Broken by Motionhouse Dance Group
On July 16th the acclaimed Motionhouse dance group will descend on Salford for the presentation of Broken at the Quays Festival. Broken is a multi-media extravaganza featuring breath-taking dancing, aerial acrobatics, digital imagery and astounding set design. As a journey to the centre of the earth in an outside performance.
Quays Festival is an annual, free, outdoor event presented by Quays Culture – the outdoor arts and cultural organisation that combines the latest digital technologies with world-class artists to present a year-round programme of events, interventions, commissions and performances.
Lucy Dusgate, Programme Producer of Quays Culture says: “It is fantastic to be working closely with Motionhouse to stage the first outdoor, large-scale production of Broken.”
The free performance which starts at 21:30 is funded by the Arts Council England in partnership with Salford City Council. The dance troupe has been playing to national success with this performance. Hanging in suspense and scrambling to safety, the dancers will negotiate the cracks and craters of a world of illusions where nothing is quite as it seems – examining our precarious relationship with the planet through a thrilling, fast-paced performance like no other.
Lucy continued, “Quays Festival introduces the public to world-class arts that utilise the latest digital technology and Broken is at the very pinnacle of this. We are delighted to be able to bring this monumental, spectacular show to its biggest audience and invite everyone to enjoy it at no cost.”
