Summer blockbusters for everyone in 2016
Mark your calenders and stock up on popcorn because 2016 is shaping up to the biggest film summer yet.
The Shallows: 12th August
After the loss of her mother, medical student Nancy Adams (Blake Lively) escapes to the beach to recover hitting the water to find peace. Suddenly, a great white shark attacks, stranding 200 yards from shore, the traumatized young woman must fight for her life as the deadly predator circles her.
The BFG: 22nd July
Ten-year-old Sophie is in for the adventure when she meets the Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylance). Scared at first, the young girl soon realizes that the 24-foot goliath is gentle and charming. Their friendship grows, Sophie's presence attracts the unwanted attention of Bloodbottler, Fleshlumpeater and other giants. After traveling to London, Sophie and the BFG must convince Queen Victoria to help them get rid of all the bad giants once and for all.
The Purge: Election Year: 15th July
Sen. Charlene Roan survived the annual 'purge' that took the lives of her family members. A presidential candidate, Roan is determined to end it once and for all. When her opponents hatch a deadly scheme, the senator finds herself trapped on the streets of Washington, D.C., just as the latest Purge gets underway. Now, it's up to Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo), her head of security, to keep her alive during the next 12 hours of mayhem.
Neon Demon: 8th July
Moving to L.A after her 16th birthday to model Jesse (Elle Fanning) has what it takes to become a top star. Her icy competitors are beautiful but ruthless vixens who despise her. On top of that, she must contend with a seedy motel manager and a creepy photographer. As Jesse starts to take the fashion world by storm, her personality changes in ways that could help her against her cutthroat rivals.
Finding Dory: 29th July
Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) is a wide-eyed, blue tang fish who suffers from memory loss every 10 seconds or so. She somehow became separated from her parents as a child. With help from her friends Nemo and Marlin, Dory embarks on an epic adventure to find them. Her journey brings her to the Marine Life Institute, a conservatory that houses diverse ocean species. Dory now knows that her family reunion will only happen if she can save mom and dad from captivity.
Ghostbusters: 11th July
The sequel to the Ghostbusters which has been causing a storm worldwide, thirty years after the original triology a paranormal researcher (Melissa McCarthy), a physicist (Kristen Wiig), a nuclear engineer (Kate McKinnon) and a subway worker (Leslie Jones) try to rid New York of ghosts that can possess humans.
