Top Parks in Manchester
1. Heaton Park
Four miles north of Manchester City Centre lies this huge, beautiful park. It is easy to reach by road or public transport. The park features an historic hall, a farm and an animal centre. As well as two excellent large playgrounds, a boating lake, tram museum and three cafes. Extras such as vintage trams and donkey rides are available at weekends and in summer. Lots to do for everyone.
2. Queen’s Park, Heywood
Queens Park in Heywood is a brilliant place to take the whole family. It has a great cafe and a fantastic playground. There is an additional toddlers playground next to the unique outdoor gym overlooking the lake and adjacent countryside. There is also a perminant outdoor theater, tennis courts and fountains.
3. Wythenshawe Park
If you want a large open area then Wythenshawe Park is great.
There is lots to do here, whatever the weather. Fields and woodland to stroll through, or pitch and putt, tennis and running track if you are feeling more energetic. Explore the indoor gardens or the hall if you need to warm up and visit the community farm next to the large playground if you have children to entertain.
4. Fletcher Moss and Parsonage Gardens
Here is one of Manchester’s most peaceful places, a tranquil spot that is perfect for unwinding and a must for garden lovers. Discover the botanical gardens then cross the road to Parsonage Gardens and wander round the flowerbeds. Finish off at the cafe and enjoy the wonderful views from the outdoor seating area.

5. Prestwich Forest Park
Here is another escape from the city in 200 hectares of woodland. No matter what your day out is about this is the perfect spot for hiking, cycling or running and getting some fresh air out of the city centre.Prestwich Clough, Philips Park and Drinkwater Park are all part of this urban forest whose tranquillity and wildlife might surprise you.
